Sorry not Sorry

I said, “No, you may not”

To your request, rather a demand.

I said, “No, I’m not comfortable”

To your query on whether I’d like to join you and a few others.

I said, “I can’t do it”

To your ask for help and advice.

All the questions and my responses,

Expected me to be apologetic,

About being unavailable,

About being assertive in my refusal,

About putting myself and my comfort first.

But, I refuse, to be so.

And, with pleasure,
I just wanna say,

Sorry, not sorry.
