Ansh loses his life at the battlefront while trying to save his motherland. His pregnant wife, Anjali, is eagerly awaiting his return to their village. Her life turns upside down when she receives the news of his demise and in the aftershock, delivers a baby girl. But, her troubles have just begun. How does Anjali battle against the age-old customs of the village, and the system that promised her a piece of land in case her husband passes away in service to the nation?

What I liked about the book:
-> I absolutely loved the underlying message of the book; which is that while soldiers are fighting wars to protect our nation from enemies across the border, their wives, mothers, and daughters are fighting their own wars with their own people.
-> The book is a brave attempt to bring forth the issues in our mindset and practices, still prevalent after seven decades of independence, and break the taboo.
-> There are several heart-wrenching emotional scenes, which touched my heart and are sure to reach any readers’ hearts and stay there for a long time.
-> It is the perfect tribute to the brave hearts out there battling and protecting our nation.

What I did not like about the book:
-> It would have been an even more impactful read had it been under the microscope of an editor or gone through a few more rounds of proofreading/editing.
