You gave me a bouquet of love,
Wanting to win over my heart.
You added a splash of colors,
Vibrant and pleasing.
They held so much promise,
But I only saw hope lost.
It wasn’t your fault of course,
How would you know that
Though we shared a fondness for florals,
I preferred them in the wild,
Growing in parks, gardens, and just about anywhere,
But in this dying form,
in my hands.

Beautiful lines!! Potted plants are environment friendly than a bouquet of flowers. 🙂

One of the ironies of life so sweetly expressed here. Both love the same thing, but in slightly different ways and the ‘slightly’ is much!

I love how these lines can have so many connotations – right from expectations/reality to gender roles, etc.
