Today’s Traveler Tuesday is dedicated to the ongoing Cricket World Cup through focus on one of the most historical cricket grounds, The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG)
My fondest childhood memories consist of watching cricket together as a family. The bonds I share with my father and my elder brother, definitely strengthened thanks to this sport. And matches at the MCG have been a major part of these memories.
So when I visited Melbourne two and a half years ago, visiting this ground was on top of my itinerary. Being there, where most of my cricket idols set some of their biggest records, was surreal. The guided tour provided by their staff is top notch. As you walk through their hall of fame, it’s a walk through the cricketing history and a nostalgia ride.
I even got bookmarks from the library, which as a bibliophile I’m putting to ample and apt use. A cricket buff like me couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The only regret I had was not being able to catch a live match there, which would have been another thing checked off from my bucket list. But, I’m pretty sure I’ll get to do that too *fingers crossed*
If in Australia and in Melbourne, and if you’re a lover of the sport, this is a must-do.
P. S: Lovebirds and cricket lovers take note, the ground is also made available for weddings 💕👩❤️👨💒 . So go ahead and make your D-day even more special and memorable. 😊💐
