Bollywood Divas Reveal Their Fitness And Diet Secrets

How many times have we looked at our favorite Bollywood divas and not sighed “Damn! I wish I had a body like that!” Well, this year maybe that wish of achieving a lean toned body will come true because we are about to share fitness secrets of your favorite Bollywood celebrities.

What we eat affects our body health and shape the most, which is why any dietician or physical trainer will always advise you that the perfect body and fitness can be achieved only with the combination of a balanced diet along with regular workout.

These celebs were kind enough to share their fitness secrets with us:

 1. Alia Bhatt

Before she became everyone’s favorite student, Alia shed some 16-17 kgs.

The Alia we now see on screen is an inspiration for keeping fit! Here’s what she does to keep herself in shape.

Exercise Routine:

Going away from the traditional exercises, Alia likes to experiment with her workout and exercises, switching between kickboxing, running, altitude training, circuit training, beach training and resistance training. She also adds in lunges, crunches and squats to optimize the effects of the workouts.

Diet Plan: 

Alia stays away from unhealthy food and has eliminated all sugary and oily food from her diet. She follows a nutritionist-designed diet which is low in carbs and high on proteins. She  This ‘Student of the Year’ recommends papaya, oatmeal and green salads as a snack food. For a mid-day snack, she opts for vegetable juice along with any fruit. She also drinks plenty of water throughout the day.

“I make it a point to have eight meals a day. That way, I can limit my portion sizes and food gets digested easily. This diet has worked for me. Whenever I’m shooting, I carry a dabba, which has egg whites, fruits, chicken, stir-fried veggies and buttermilk. My detox meal consists of doodhi juice, sprouts and lime water.”

2. Sonam Kapoor

We love this ‘Fashionista’ not only for her fashion sense but also for her fit body. She is also one of those who went through a weight loss journey before hitting the big screens.

 

 

Her journey is an inspiration for all women and here she shares a few valuable tips.

Exercise Routine:

She begins her day with a 30 minutes jog followed by meditation and cardiovascular workouts which last for 30 minutes too. In her spare time, she even does dancing and swimming, both of which she loves immensely. She even has a soft spot for sports, so twice a week she plays squash as well.

Diet Plan:

Sonam does not believe in starving and hence consumes something every two hours. She relies on dry fruits and nuts as her snack items. Her mid day snacks include brown bread with egg whites. In between her hectic schedules, she keeps her body hydrated by high intake of fluids which include coconut water, cucumber, buttermilk and fresh fruit juice. She even takes protein shakes 2-3 times a day to keep herself energized.

“Yeah, looking at my figure people often assume that I don’t eat much. On the contrary, I eat every two hours. Since my day is packed with strenuous physical activity- shooting, swimming or dancing- I never allow myself to go hungry for too long. If I feel peckish, I snack on nuts and dry fruits.”

“I avoid weights since I am broad-built and I mostly do a combination of Bikram yoga and Pilates. I also eat every two hours and cut off carbs after 6pm.

3. Deepika Padukone

Her lean body and long legs have been the object of envy for many women and the subject of desire for many men. Here she shares her fitness secret.

Exercise Routine:

Deepika is one of the few rare celebs who does not have a personal trainer. She loves to do light weight and handy exercises. Her morning routine consists of half an hour of yoga poses. She believes this keeps one healthy and fresh throughout the day. Post yoga, she engages in 30 minutes walking workout. Once in a while, when she is bored of her regular exercise routine, she engages in dancing. Pilates and stretching are a part of her regular exercise. She says, “I do a lot of freehand weights and four to five sets of stretching exercises with 10 to 20 reps in between Pilates or stretching routines. I don’t particularly like running, so I don’t do a lot of conventional gym exercises. I try and exercise as often as I can, but when I’m traveling or shooting, I tend to skip it for days on end.”

Diet Plan:

Deepika is another star who disregards starvation as a means to keep fit. She consumes something or the other every two hours which usually includes fresh fruits and natural juices. Her evening snack includes almonds and filter coffee. Being a South Indian, she loves her traditional food like rice, dosa and upma. However, she replaces the coconut chutney with green chutney while doing so and also ensures that the dosa and upma aren’t stuffed with potatoes.

Her diet rule is “Never eat with your eyes, eat enough to fill your stomach and never overeat.”

4. Priyanka Chopra

This diva is known for her oomph and sexy figure all over the globe now. If you want a figure like hers, here is the recipe.

Exercise Routine:

She begins her day with yoga to keep herself mentally as well as physically fit. She hits the gym every day for an hour where she starts with 15 minutes run on the treadmill. This is followed by push-ups and reverse lunges. Post this she does 20-25 bench jumps as well as reverse crunches. She believes in resistance training rather than weight training. When she cannot make it to the gym, she does running and spinning.

“My usual gym regimen is cardio four times a week for about half an hour. I also include some resistance training like squats. I also love swimming, it’s a full body workout and I’ll try to do 10 laps continuously.”

Diet Plan:

PeeCee too believes in keeping oneself energized through regular feeding and hence she eats something at an interval of every two hours. This includes a glass of coconut water with a handful of nuts. Her snack consists of a turkey sandwich or sprout salad. She also takes a lot of green veggies and fruits to get all important minerals and protein.

“I don’t believe in being a size 0. I don’t believe in starving. Women should totally embrace their curves. I often indulge my taste buds over weekends and they are reserved for binging on chocolates, cakes andtandooris.”

5. Parineeti Chopra

Recently, this bubbly actress’s weight loss has wowed us all.

Exercise Routine:

Having never been a fan of the gym, Parineeti mixes up her workout routines so that she doesn’t get bored of doing the same thing. Her physical exercises include dancing, practicing Kalaripayattu (a form of martial arts from Kerala), yoga, meditating and swimming. However, she does hit the gym once in a while too, just to create a balance.

Diet Plan:

To keep herself hydrated this ‘Ishaqaade’ actress drinks a lot of water throughout the day. Her breakfast includes things like brown bread, egg-whites, a glass of sugar-free milk and on some occasions a glass of fruit juice. When she is hungry she munches on fruits and salads throughout the day. Her meals are always of items with low fat and less oil.  She starts her day by drinking fenugreek water (Soak 2 teaspoons of fenugreek seeds overnight and drink the water in the morning)

“I gave up pizza! It’s my first love. I can let go of anything but not pizza. But I didn’t have a choice.”
