Indian cinema has made great strides forward in the last few years. Female-centric movies, biopics, real life stories, stories that talk about current issues and a lot more is being experimented within Bollywood. This has come in as a breath of fresh air for cinephiles and fans of Bollywood.
As 2018 sets in, let’s have a look at such movies which promise to continue this new and coming of age cinema.
1. Padmavat(i)
After many controversies and delays, Padmavati oops Padmavat will be the first mega film of 2018 hitting the screens on January 25.
2. Padman
Based on the real life inspirational story of Arunachalam Muruganantham this one is surely a movie to look forward to.
3. Hichki
Rani Mukherjee is coming back and we can’t wait to see her! As always, she will be seen playing a challenging role, this around that of a teacher suffering from the Tourette syndrome, a neuropsychiatric disorder.
4. Veere di Wedding
This has been creating a buzz and seems like a lot of fun with an all-female cast.
5. Zero
SRK plays a dwarf in this Anand L. Rai directorial and that sounds pretty exciting. Also, he will be seen alongside Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma for the first time after Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
6. Sui Dhaaga
VarunDhawan and Anushka Sharma star in this film centering on the Make in India initiative.
7. Fanne Khan
Aishwarya Rai Bacchan and Anil Kapoor will be sharing screen space together after ages in this one. And they’ll be accompanied by the man who had a sensational 2017, Rajkumar Rao. That’s some power packed casting right there!
8. Sanju
The much awaited and talked about biopic on Sanjay Dutt is expected to release in May this year.
9. Gold
A biopic starring Akshay Kumar essaying the role of Balbir Singh Sr., who was on the team that won the first Olympic medal for India as a free nation in 1948.
10. Mukkabaaz
The director and producer duo of Anurga Kahsyap and Anand L. Rai is enough to make this film a worthy watch.
11. Pari
A horror thriller movie where Anushka Sharma is playing the role of an abuse victim is surely something we all want to watch.
12. Manikarnika
Based on the life of Rani Laxmibai and starring KanganaRanaut, this film promises to be a good one.
13. Aiyaary
When Manoj Bajpayee does a film, we all know it would be worthy of watching and so Aiyaary is surely one to look forward to.
14. Raazi
The film is an adaptation of Calling Sehmat, a novel about a Kashmiri government agent who’s hitched to a Pakistani man. Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal are assuming lead parts in the film, which will release on May 11th.
The cinephiles around must be pretty excited about the coming year. Hope the movies stand up to their expectations!
